Terms of Service

1. What Parly is
Parly (“we”, “us”) is a search and alerting tool for Scottish Parliament (Holyrood) written questions and answers, operated by Jonny McAveety. Parly is not affiliated with the Scottish Parliament or the Scottish Government.
2. The service
- Free tier: search, up to 5 watches, 1 saved search, and daily digest emails.
- Pro tier: unlimited watches and saved searches, billed monthly via Stripe. You can cancel any time from your account page; you keep Pro access until the end of the paid period.
3. Your account
Sign-in is passwordless (a magic link sent to your email). Keep access to your email secure — anyone with access to it can sign in as you. You’re responsible for the accuracy of the saved searches and watches you create.
4. Acceptable use
Don’t attempt to circumvent rate limits, scrape the service at volume, or use it to build a competing product without permission. Don’t attempt to access another user’s account or data.
5. Data source and accuracy
Written question and answer content is sourced from the Scottish Parliament’s open data (data.parliament.scot), reused under the Scottish Parliament Copyright Licence. Parly may classify questions by portfolio and topic using automated (AI-assisted) tagging, which can occasionally be wrong. We make no guarantee of completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of question data or of digest and watch notifications — don’t rely on Parly as your sole source for anything time-critical.
6. Availability
Parly is provided “as is”, with no uptime guarantee. We may change or discontinue features, including the free tier’s limits, with reasonable notice where practical.
7. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by emailing us at jmcaveety@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Parly is provided without warranties, and we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service.
9. Changes to these terms
We’ll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify users by email.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland.
